Our Story

About Isabella & How IMMusic was born

Isabella’s journey began with piano lessons at the age six. When she learned how to speak, her mother said the first gift she asked for at Christmas was a piano. She always loved playing with little toy pianos, singing music and performing small music concerts in their backyard in Sao Paulo Brazil, where Isabella grew up. She began music at CLAM School at the age of four, and later at the age of 7, she won a scholarship to prestigious school Magda Tagliaferro Conservatory. A natural composer, Isabella also began composition lessons with highly acclaimed Brazilian composer, Dyonisio Moreno. She participated in numerous recitals, master classes and even won prizes in piano competitions. Young Isabella loved being a part of a musical community where she could foster her creativity and imagination.

In June of 1999, an opportunity brought her parents to Yale University in the medical school, and Isabella continued her studies in music, taking private lessons not only in piano but also in voice. She expanded her studies to jazz and pop applying her composition skills into songwriting. She became active in musical activities in high school, including chorus, and jazz band, and attended an arts magnet school ACES Educational Center for the Arts, ECA.

Isabella not only had an interest in music, but also in the sciences and mathematics, which led her to attend a top engineering school Worcester Polytechnic Institute - WPI, majoring in structural engineering and minoring in music, where she graduated with honors at the top of her class. After graduation, while working as a structural engineer and performing music in local events, Isabella began developing her own side business performing, teaching piano and tutoring math. She later obtained her MBA at Southern CT State University. An opportunity brought her to work as a manager and analyst at the Yale School of Engineering and later at The Yale School of Management. During that time, she realized her passion for education and curriculum development. Throughout all those experiences, one thing was always constant: music.

An avid learner, she sought out professional development at Carnegie Hall's Music Education Workshop, Full Voice Vocal Teacher Training, in addition to private lessons with Grammy Winning artists including Fabio Torres, Michal Towber and others.

After teaching piano students part-time, working as an engineer and honing both her performing and educational skills, Isabella was ready to launch IMMusic full time in the Fall of 2018.
